REVIEW

A walk in the Rain starts with a brilliant prologue. Though one may ask what the relevance of the prologue to the story is but I personally liked the way the author tends to make us feel the theme of his novel at the very beginning.  The romantic sequences and the idea of eternal friendship really stir the heart. It's a perfectly well-balanced story with skillful narration.

At the very beginning we first see Sunny as a lonely boy in the class who gets a great friend in Saloni or rather Sandy.  But his luck didn’t last long as without a moment’s warning she was gone, nowhere to be found again. He grew up but couldn’t do away with the unforgettable memories of his long gone friend. He clung on to the idea that one day somewhere he will find her again. Quite a romantic notion indeed!

There were some really good dialogues. One such dialogue that I loved is "It's not the person who is good or bad, it's the side we rub of him."

The story has quite a lot of interestingly flavored characters. The introduction of Sunny’s friends was very hilarious and witty.  Pooja, Imran and Hari stand out to be quite mindboggling. Though I would have loved to read more about Imran, his death was the turning point that brought us to the mind blowing climax.

The last encounter between the hero and villain in the dark den really puts you on the edge of your seats, though slightly filmy. Perfect finish, anyone would love. The story had everything Love, friendship, deceit, vengeance, humor and nostalgia.

Sunny and Saloni’s reunion was quite heartwarming. The author made their reunification special with the rain. Unlike many authors Udai Yadla didn’t forget to tie all the threads and subplots together. He gave the story quite a credible and satisfactory ending.
